Welcome!

My name is Sam and I’m a farmer and technology entrepreneur.

I’m going to be writing about technology and innovation in agriculture. I’m particularly interested in how we develop and scale technologies that really transform agriculture, revolutionise the way we produce food and take the industry to another level. I think there is far too much money and time being spent on technologies and approaches that only incrementally improve the food system we already have. I think there is instead an opportunity to re-design the way we produce food, starting from an understanding of the full range of technology capability that we have at our disposal today.

As well as tech, I’m also really interested in family businesses. Perhaps I have a bias towards farming businesses here, because this is what I have experienced personally, but I think family businesses in general have an enormously positive role to play in the future of our global economy and I’m interested to explore those thoughts here.

So, I’m going to be writing about the mindsets we have in farming and family businesses and what we can potentially do to move those forward.

I’m not representing anyone’s opinions other than my own here. I’m not going to get everything right and if you have any thoughts about what you’ve read, I’m always happy to listen and to learn.
